Recently, there have been lots of disputes and problems going on between the landlords and the tenants.Therefore, the relevant ministries decided to bring a new regulation jointly.

According to Article 344 of Turkish Code of Obligations, the rate of rent increase cannot exceed the TÜİK’s “rate of change in 12 months moving averages” of the CPI rate. However, on 08.06.2022, in the meeting of The Grand National Assembly of Turkey, a new regulation is accepted. In accordance with this new regulation, the maximum rate of rent increase will be %25 until 01.07.2023. This new regulation will be applied on the rent contracts which are signed after this new regulation comes into force.
